This is the fourth installment of a 10-video series that JustPeace is producing around the release of Tom Porter’s upcoming book, The Spirit & Art of Conflict Transformation: Creating a Culture of JustPeace.
In this video, Becoming Peacemakers, Tom discusses the difference between being a mediating presence and being a “fixer”. A “fixer” tries to solve other people’s problems. A peacebuilder, on the other hand, acts as a mediating presence to provide space for people to feel comfortable to tell their own stories and to resolve their conflicts on their own.
