JustPeace celebrates 10th Anniversary

To mark this important anniversary, JustPeace gathered together its board of directors and some of the key people who have been part of the life of JustPeace since its inception in 2000. We met at Boston University’s School of Law for two days of celebration, reflection and discernment.

JustPeace board members, advisory board members, and other guests, are gathering for two days of fellowship, celebration of the past, and an envisioning of the future. Churches can help youth fight cyberbullies

“A youth pastor could be the most likely person they will trust. So we have to prepare them to be the trusted adult,” Aftab said. “They need to understand cyberbullying and sexting. They need to understand how the technology works and how it’s abused. You have a precious few minutes to do it right, and if you do it wrong you’ll never hear from them again.”

Summer Grove United Methodist Church hosted a four-person panel of professional experts and high school students to shed light on hassling at school or online. After the talk, the group lit candles to honor and memorialize bullies’ victims.

Service bridges Muslim, Christian faiths

Sept 13, 2010 – DeMoines Register. A century-old Des Moines church in the midst of a building restoration served as a place to build relations between Muslims and Christians on Sunday. A service of “Reconciliation and Love” was held at Trinity United Methodist Church, at the southwest corner of Eighth Street and College Avenue in the River Bend neighborhood.
