On this 2nd Anniversary of the international launching of The Charter for Compassion, it is exciting to report that in June, the Desert Southwest Conference of the United Methodist Church passed Commitment to Kindness – Living an Ethic of Reciprocity, Resolution.

On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Link TV is devoted an entire day of special programming showcasing stories of forgiveness, growth and transformation including Beyond Belief and In Our Son’s Name.

In January, Krista Tippett began a new project called the Civil Conversation Project – an ongoing series of radio shows and a website that yearns for new and better way “to speak and listen to each other, to live forward together, even while holding passionate disagreements.”

Coming this Fall on PBS, will be a bold new mini-series, Women, War & Peace. The series, which begins in October 2011, challenges “the conventional wisdom that war and peace are men’s domain and to place women at the center of an urgent dialogue about conflict and security.”

Women involved in peacebuilding tend to gravitate to efforts that entail sustained interfaith and intrafaith relationship building, approaching peace work from a holistic perspective that highlights the community.

The Institute of Peace Leadership and Governance (IPLG) at Africa University is advertising two lectureships in graduate studies related to human rights, leadership and governance. The IPLG seeks to contribute to a culture of peace, good governance, security and socio-economic development in Africa through research, teaching, networking and community-level action.

JustPeace hosts its 11th Annual Gathering in Jackson, Mississippi next week (3/6-3/8). The event, “Journey Toward the Light”, will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Rides and engage narratives and processes around racial reconciliation.

JustPeace is celebrating our 10th Anniversary this weekend on the campus of Boston University. JustPeace board members, advisory board members, and other guests, are gathering for two days of fellowship, celebration of the past, and an envisioning of the future. Candler School of Theology at Emory University will hold its annual Fall Conference under the theme “Conflict Transformation as Ministry,” October 19-21, on the Emory campus.
