A Call for Peacemaking

To commemorate the United Nation’s International Day of Peace, JustPeace is happy to debut a new section of our website – “A Call for Peacemaking” – a cooperative initiative within the United Methodist Church to respond to Resolution 6091, “A Call for Peacemaking” found on pages 850-851 of The 2008 Book of Resolutions of the United Methodist Church.

John Swomley, United Methodist peacemaker, dies at 95

Rev. Dr. John M. Swomley, a United Methodist minister and pacifist Christian, died this week. Swomley was the Executive Secretary of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, president of the Methodist Peace Fellowship, and helped influence Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “pilgrimage to nonviolence.”
