William J. Everett reflects on this year’s JustPeace Annual Gathering that took place earlier this month (March 6th-8th). The Gathering took place in Jackson, Mississippi to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Rides and focused on racial reconciliation.

JustPeace hosts its 11th Annual Gathering in Jackson, Mississippi next week (3/6-3/8). The event, “Journey Toward the Light”, will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Rides and engage narratives and processes around racial reconciliation.

Today, August 28th, 2010, marks the 47th anniversary of the historic “I Have a Dream” speech delivered from the steps of the Lincoln memorial in Washington, DC. by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Filmmaker Jeb Stuart and historian Tim Tyson are both preacher’s kids, now in their 50s, who grew up in North Carolina at a time when attempts at racial integration still sparked tensions that could lead to violence and murder.
