Scriptural Origins
The scope of the work of JUSTPEACE Center for Mediation and Conflict Transformation has an origin in our scriptural tradition:
Matthew 18:20 – For where two or three are gathered [in conflict] in my name, there I am in the midst of them. (Attitudes)
Colossians 3:12-15 – As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. (Skills)
Matthew 18:15-17 – If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. (Processes)
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 – So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation… (Ministries)
