Leading During Anxious Times: Choices for Clergy and Laity
March 3, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm$50
This workshop will offer and explore different ways for leaders to see and understand leadership, human interactions and systems. Family systems and the theologian Martin Buber’s I-Thou work are key lenses as we look at the theology, theory and best practices for leaders.
We will take a close look at transformative leadership during times of high anxiety. What are characteristics or indicators of high anxiety for the community and for ourselves as leaders? What is the impact of anxiety on a system? What are some positive ways to respond and even transform negative anxiety? How does a leader function and be in such a context in a way that can invite calmness, responsiveness and deeper relationships?
This seminar will help clergy and other leaders understand the impact and meaning of seeing each other from an I-Thou place as made in the image of God, while also holding people accountable, inviting growth, and helping create a culture of compassion, integrity, resilience and excellence.
